In the last plague on Egypt in Exodus 10:21-11:10, a culture idolizing immortality is confronted with the sting of death and darkness. As we find ourselves in an anxious culture similarly reinforcing the idea that we can achieve immortality through achievement, tranquilization with the trivial, or technology, we can take much hope in the God who sets us free from the fear of death through the death of Christ on the cross.
