電影是傳播歡笑與淚水，是接觸國際世界的窗口。新竹市民第一次看到電影，是在1901年北門外，電影放映的內容是八國聯軍攻打紫禁城，而且當時電影放映形式是以動態照片的「活動寫真」呈現。
1933年在日治時代開幕的「有樂館」是那個時代全台第一座有冷卻裝置的電影院，建築形式融合了古羅馬與阿拉伯建築設計，是當時日本政府展現國力的公有建築，是當時居住在新竹的日本及台灣士紳的休閒場所。從以前的老照片中可以到有樂館是當時上流社會非常高級的社交場所，不只在此放映電影還會在此舉辦聚會。
但這棟建築卻在二戰時期遭到轟炸造成部分毀損，直到日本戰敗、中華民國政府接管台灣之後重新整修，並將其改名為「國民戲院」，除了用以播放電影之外，還曾經舉辦過音樂會以及入伍徵召等活動，是承載市民生活記憶的鮮明指標。
本集節目邀請到修復影像博物館的林志成建築師，以及策辦風城情波新竹電影節、當時的文化中心洪惠冠主任和我們分享新竹市影像博物館的歷史故事。
