Introvert shaming is a real phenomenon that blunts the leadership impact and contributions of nearly 50% of the population. Our extrovert-forward culture sets expectations for how we interact that undervalues introvert traits. listen in to learn how to reclaim your power as an introvert.

  1. Introverts can experience bullying over social performance. This causes you to invalidate your own feelings and blame yourself if a meeting or networking event isn't a home run. If can also cause you to be unfavorably compared to extroverted counterparts.
  2. The social tools we are given from early childhood on are rooted in an extroverted persona. Don't blame yourself if they aren't working or you don't feel comfortable using them.
  3. Seek out a social magnet who can help you navigate social situations and break the ice for you.
  4. Introversion occurs along a spectrum and is situational. When you put yourself in a situation where you are more comfortable, you will be more successful.
  5. Find introvert role models.
