Well listeners, it's time lace up your roller skates for this dystopian movie ripe with biting social commentary called Rollerball, which was introduced to us by Detroit-based artist Chris Schanck. As someone who blends futuristic sculpture and furniture, Chris is often drawn to parallels between the ornate and the dilapidated, which can be seen thematically in this film with the use of violent sport as a metaphor to represent societal degradation. We invite you to explore the poetic side of this science-fiction sports movie that accurately predicted the future, with the exception of sport heroes in roller skates!

Tangents include: artistic moms, Tom Brady, mega churches, Nietzche, gentrification, Idiocracy, James Abbott McNeill Whistler
