In the exchange between Jesus and Satan in Matthew 4:1-11, we see the means to avoid and withstand temptation as Jesus refutes Satan. The same lies and half-truths used against our Savior in the wilderness are the lies that the enemy tries to bring against us. The Devil wants us to question God's plan. He wants to throw our faith into doubt, especially in moments we are weak. In Jesus we see the way to avoid his trap. Jesus uses the word to push back against the lies. He points us to worship the Lord only.
