Meet Abigail Douglass, the Alberta Party candidate for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake.
A by-election in the central Alberta riding is expected to be called in the coming days.
On this episode, Alberta Party leader Stephen Mandel talks to Abigail about why she's running, her background and her thoughts on the big issues facing Alberta and Innisfail-Sylvan Lake.
Born in Russia, Abigail moved to Canada with her adopted parents at the age of 8. The first place they settled was her mother's family farm close to Penhold. Abigail's family has deep roots in the riding and they helped pioneer the Innisfail and Penhold areas. The communications professional wants to bring that same pioneering spirit back to the riding and Alberta politics. She believes deeply in the power of public service and has been volunteering in her community since she was a teenager, even being dubbed "Miss Spitfire" by her high school principal
