Christoph Burgmer (audio-archiv.com) im Gespräch mit Ambalavaner Sivanandan. Christoph Burgmer in conversation with Ambalavaner Sivanandan.

Ambalavaner Sivanandan, who died in 2018 at the age of 94, ran the London-based Institute of Race Relations together with his colleagues from 1972. The IRR still publishes one of the world's most influential anti-racist journals, "Race & Class". The conversation with Sri Lankan-born Amalavan Sivanandan centres on how the UK has become a country with entrenched structural racism, politically within the Conservative Party. Britain's institutionalised racism has become a "role model" for right-wing and radical right-wing parties in the rest of Europe, for example when it comes to the issue of migration and asylum. The interview is the second part of the conversation, the first part of which (on the history of migration to the UK) we broadcast on 13 October 2023.
