I couldn’t pull life together enough to complete melody this week, but liked my lyric enough that I wanted to share it. Maybe I’ll collab with my past-self in the future…but for now here is what this prompt inspires. It was a 2:00 AM writing.

Whether Old-Rugged, or angry, or other side of the lane
Item off my list, a double, a newspaper’s word game
Of purposes, pollination, or stars with lover’s loss
There is no end of meaning to the word of cross
The Old Rugged Cross, cross is my mood
I’ll cross the lane if that isn’t rude
Cross off items from my list, a double cross is a pain
I’m not very good at the crossword game
Cross purposes keep tasks from completion
Cross pollination brings new food in its season
Star crossed lovers can bring on a tear
There’s probably more meanings of cross I fear
So I’ll cross my legs, and cross my arms too
And leave other meanings of cross up to you
