In season two we’re getting down and dirty. Actually... it’s the exact opposite.

We’re here this time around to discuss the ways we keep up with our health, beauty, and personal hygiene. As expected, we have our favorite subscriptions, technologies, and services that make these everyday routines more efficient. Whether it’s taking care of your skin, perfecting your morning hair and makeup routine, making time for a run, or taking your daily supplements, we have something for you.
Even more exciting, we’re taking the time and putting in the effort to learn more about ourselves, our bodies, and what exactly makes us, us. DNA spit test, check. Metabolism blood test, check. Allergy hair test, check. Hangover cure, yup you read that right. Even though some of the results were not exactly what we were expecting, this season is the real deal.

Let us be the guinea pigs, so that automation comes easy for you.

So Damn Gouda

Let us start off by saying thank you, Mike. Thank you for creating a company that makes appreciating (and eating) cheese, oh so easy. For you cheese-lovers out there, So Damn Gouda is the perfect catering option for dinner parties, holiday celebrations, or casual get-togethers.

We know it can be timely and expensive to source your own ingredients, so why not leave it up to the experts? The process is as easy as placing any online order. As long as you’re within a 16 miles radius of Denver-Metro, a curated tray of artisan cheeses, a signature cheese ball, house-made jam, nuts, fresh and dried fruit, crackers, and cured meats (if you desire) will be delivered to your door. Can we get a “yum”?

#ATSRating: 6/5 because cheese (is that even possible?)

Quip

Don’t be that person with the bad breath and the f*cked up teeth. With the help of Quip, you can get your toothpaste and electric toothbrush delivered regularly to your doorstep. This awesome company is taking a sleek and sophisticated approach to oral care with a modern aesthetic to what is seemingly a pretty boring hygiene product. Honestly, if you want a toothbrush to match your Macbook Air, you’ve found the right place.

Best of all is, this subscription is affordable. Your first shipment is $40 and every refill on a monthly basis starts at only $5. We know what you’re thinking - that’s stupid cheap. If you want to impress your dentist, get on this bandwagon immediately.

#ATSRating: 4.9/5 because brushing your teeth can only really be that exciting

23AndMe

Genetic testing companies are becoming more and more popular as ancestry continues to peak the interest of the general public. With just a small amount of saliva, 23andMe provides personalized reports about ancestry, maternal and paternal haplogroups, neanderthal variances, and DNA makeup. Once your results are in, it’s time to explore - join forums, talk with counselors, and even connect with DNA relatives… Imagine finding out that you’re a descendant of Herman Webster Mudgett aka H. H. Holmes. Yup, we went there.

At the forefront of the ever-expanding market, 23andMe also offers insight into your health and the individual risks one might have for certain diseases and conditions. Although 23andMe is still fine-tuning their Genetic Health Risk and Carrier Status reports, the results are both intriguing and sometimes unsettling.

Let's be honest. Genetic testing has come so far but the truth is, you can’t just spit in a cup and have every single answer that you’re looking for. What 23andMe does, is provides an introduction to your ancestry.

#ATSRating: 4.7/5 because the results could be more dialed in
