There are various forces at play to have market adoption of electrified air travel. Electrified aircraft share some similarities with the automotive industry but have other significant challenges and differences they face as well. In this episode Stephan sits down with Peter Savagian of Electrified Future, Inc. to discuss the electrified aircraft industry.

Peter Savagian is Principal at Electrified Future, Inc., his EV and related services advisory company working for firms in the electrification of transport, mobility and related services. He also works as Sr Advisor to McKinsey and Company, and Advisor to DNX Ventures.

Pete has done pioneering work in the EV industry for more than three decades. At General Motors, he was Chief Engineer and General Director of Propulsion systems. He led the systems engineering of propulsion systems as well as the industrialization and supply chain development for electric motors, power electronics, and for battery controls electronics. Pete’s work there included the 1996 GM EV1, a range of hybrid vehicles, the Chevy Volt, and the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV.

Pete has also led the entire engineering and purchasing activities at EV startups Faraday Future and Canoo. He did the same at Electric Aircraft startup Ampaire. He is presently on the board of advisors at Sibros Technologies, an automotive software connectivity company and at H3X, an aviation propulsion company. He is affiliated as a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin. Pete holds 47 patents, has authored 17 technical publications and is regularly engaged as a speaker at SAE, IEEE, other industry events and for board meetings. His BS in Engineering is from the University of Wisconsin, his MS from the University of Southern California, and his MBA from Duke University.
