This episode is a rewind of my conversation with Dr. Marlene Kanga. Dr. Kanga who lives in Sydney, Australia and is an outstanding leader and engineer. She was the second female President of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations (WFEO), from 2017-2019. In that capacity she represented over 30 million engineers around the world.

She holds non-executive director positions on Boards in Australia including Sydney Water Corporation and Air Services Australia. Marlene is also the Co-Chair of Elevate, an Australian government program to increase the participation of women in STEM.

Dr. Kanga was included in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June 2022 when she was made an Officer of the Order of Australia “for distinguished service to engineering, as a global leader and role model to women”.

In this episode Dr. Kanga tells us about the impactful moments in her youth that changed the trajectory of her life, the importance of women learning to manage their own money, and why mathematics is vital for girls. She is a passionate advocate for women understanding how they can make a difference in engineering and STEM fields.
