Our first coach today is John Sherian, Girls Coach at T. Wingate Andrews High School, in High Point, North Carolina. Upon taking over Andrews in the 2010-2011 season, he inherited a 3-12 team. In his second season as head coach he achieved a 22-7 record. Shearin has taken Andrews to the state playoffs each year he has been the head coach. In 2014, he led Andrews to the 2014 North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2A Girls State Championship. From 2014-2016 his teams appeared in three consecutive NCHSAA Final Four regionals. During his impressive run at one point he amassed 50 consecutive conference wins and has also had six undefeated conference seasons and six conference titles. Coach Shearin also runs a very competitive preseason jamboree. This fall will be the ninth annual Quick Preseason Jamboree and he will be glad to give you some information on that if needed. This jamboree benefits former Red Raiders player Myleka Quick, who had her career end early due to a car accident. John Shearin best quality as educator and coach is his consistency and demand for excellence of his students and players. It’s the fact that he truly cares about his players welfare beyond the game of basketball is what makes him extraordinary. He mentors to students in our school that may not even be in his class and will find a way to get them involved in our school.
