This episode takes a look at the idea that struggle helps people learn. It forces the internalization of information and knowledge. This requires a paradigm shift for mentors. We often want to impart our knowledge to the mentee but if knowledge is just told to or given directly to a person, it is not always taken in deeply enough to sink in.

I am also adding this reference to a series of essays that were published in the Washington Post. They come from a group of 20+ high school biology teachers who took on a challenge of writing an essay on a shared prompt, "What is the value in letting students struggle in class?" This is a great insight into our topic.
