When I was first scrolled down the list of exhibitors that were going to be at NAHBS this year, I was most excited to see Chapman Cycles on the list. I'd long admired the style of the bikes Brian builds and learned that in addition to being incredibly talented he's also one of the most humble builders out there. It is his tasteful eye and steady hand that imprint the Chapman aesthetic on each frame, from tubes to paint. Although he even downplays it during the interview, Brian won the Best Tandem award at the 2018 NAHBS, with a tandem AND cargo trailer combination that was jaw-dropping to see in person. In spite of being an incredible work of art, the tandem was not a one-off show bike built specifically for NAHBS, it is Brian's personal family bike that regularly get's ridden.

In this episode Brian talks about getting started as a builder at Circle A Cycles in Providence, Rhode Island learning under Chris Bull, about his small shop in Pawtuxet Village, about his first BMX bike and scoring shop tools at bike swaps.
