OBITUARY: Margaret Johnson Frazier passed away peacefully at her home on October 18, 2016 at the age of 95. She was and will remain a shining and exulted model of a mother, a wife, a daughter, a mother-in-law, a grandmother, a woman, a friend, a Christian. Knowing she was soon to be fitted with her angel wings, Margaret gathered her family to say goodbye, including every son, daughter-in-law and grandchild. Margaret was born to Robert and Lula Johnson on April 15, 1921 in Navasota, Texas. She was a member of the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She attended The University of Texas at Austin, one of the school's first recipients of a music education degree, and an active member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. After graduating in 1942, she moved to Baytown, Texas to begin her teaching career in the Goose Creek School District. During World War II, she worked in the laboratory at Humble Oil & Refining's Baytown refinery. In Baytown she befriended Alene Frazier Bunting, who insisted Margaret meet her brother, L.E., a dive-bomber pilot and naval officer who was soon to come on leave from the war in the South Pacific. In the spring of 1945, Margaret met Lt. L.E. Frazier, Jr. and it was love at first sight for both of them and they married soon after on June 30, 1945. At the conclusion of the War, they moved to Austin where L. E. completed law school at the University of Texas. They eventually settled in Houston, creating a life and home full of love and joy for their six sons. Margaret was a member of Bethel Church of Houston where she faithfully worshipped for many years, taught Bible Study, mentored young Christian women, and with L.E. counseled young couples entering into the blessed union of marriage. Margaret loved traveling, music, sewing, teaching and learning, gardens and gardening, music, the Astros, her wonderful friends, her devoted family, the Bible and above all her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her servant spirit was always on display and she was contented in all circumstances. She lived her life with an uncommon combination of love, faith, joy, grace, patience, strength, humility, compassion and kindness. She was the perfect model for her sons as they married and started their own families. Through her sons' wives she gained six daughters, who adored her. She loved them like her own, and invested in them by nurturing them spiritually. Her discipleship was not limited to her precious family, as she opened her heart and walked through life with countless women at church and throughout the community, sharing her experiences of God's infinite grace, mercy and love. May we all find great comfort in the fact she is reunited with those whom she joins in Heaven: her husband and love of her life and beyond, L.E.; her devoted parents and brother Osborne; many close relatives and dear friends. She is survived by her six sons and their wives: Mike and Beverly, Greg and Jeannie, Bob and Michelle, David and Melanie, Paul and Pam, and Joe and Claire, all of Houston. Her seventeen grandchildren, who affectionately call her Nana and brought her great pride: Colby; Bryan (Lauren), Matthew (Mary), Allison (Michael); John (Claire), Margaret, Travis (Sarah), Brent (Allie), Benjamin (Sarah), Jay; Kyle, Clay, Cody, Katie; Stephen (Brittany), Robert (engaged to Katherine) and Annie; as well as step-grandchildren Ned, Berkeley (Jason), and their children, Christopher, Sam, Michael, Malcolm, Vivian. She was blessed with great-grandchildren Ellie, Austin, Olivia, Annaleigh, Henley, Courtney, Nolan and a baby boy whose birth we all eagerly anticipate any day now. She was blessed with the tender care of Rosa Vasquez and Lina Mititeanu. The family is forever grateful for the love and dignity they gave to her. She will continue to be a guiding light for her family and many friends. Margaret lived her long and full life by the Word of Our Lord and left the following scripture written in her home surely as comfort to those of us who love her so and a reminder to all whose lives she touched: "The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26 On the evening of Thursday, October 20, 2016 a visitation with family and friends will be held at Houston Country Club, 1 Potomac Drive from 5:00-7:00pm. After a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Bethel Church of Houston, 825 Bering Drive.
