**Trigger Warning**

Domestic violence happens more than we can imagine and in homes we would never consider.

Women every day struggle to survive and their stories are heartbreaking and when they can leave and start the healing journey they are miraculous.

Magen's journey is hard to listen to, yet, I think it is necessary.

To give a face to this epidemic that very few want to talk about and/or address.

Children suffer from PTSD, hypervigilance to threats, disregulated aggression which can result in vicarious traumatization.

Women who have been abused suffer from PTSD, Guilt, Shame, Physical Disabilities, Fear and stay in the situation to protect their children and so much more.

The statistics are shocking. Women and children are dying at the hands of abusers every day.

This is one of many stories out there. The difference is that Magen got out, her abuser is in jail for the next 10 years. She was one of the lucky ones.

We need to do better as a society and we need to help our sisters, nieces, daughters, mothers and friends live a life without fear.
