Kris and David are joined by Daniel Makabe (@danielmakabe) for the first half of the show to discuss the week-plus that was February 15-22, 2003.

  • We start off talking about the sudden end of the revival of Portland Wrestling and all the controversy surrounding the short lifespan of the promotion, which that means lots of insane Oregon State Athletic Commission talk.
  • Next, we go to the indie scene where we talk about Dan's memories of western Canadian indies, the Philadelphia promotional wars of the era featuring 3PW and XPW, Cody Rhodes’s high school wrestling career, Sting's evangelical wrestling parable with Nikita Koloff and Ted DiBiase, the insanity of J.C. Bailey, Tom Howard on “Joe Millionaire,” Joan Lunden reflecting on his disastrous time at the WCW Power Plant, Curt Hennig's memorial service, and much more.
  • Then we go international, where we talk about the K-1 scandals and how they could (but didn’t really) affect PRIDE FC, the bloom wearing off the AJPW rose a year into Keiji Muto's reign, Hiroshi Tanahashi making his NJPW return after being stabbed by his ex-girlfriend, the debut of U-STYLE, and tons more.
  • We go to NWA-TNA next for a interesting week as they debut Jonah Adelman from Tough Enough in a crazy way, plus we have updates on their status with DirecTV and more.
  • We then close with WWE, where we have Raw and SmackDown leading into the No Way Out PPV including Eric Bischoff vs. Jim Ross headlining Raw, Nathan Jones cutting his first promo on SmackDown, Eddy and Chavo Guerrero starting their lying, cheating, and stealing, one of John Cena’s early raps, and a whole lot more.

It’s hard to believe that this stuff is 20 years old now, but here we are. We had lots of fun doing this show, so listen now!!
