David Miliband, a former British foreign minister, has been the president and CEO of the International Rescue Committee since 2013. He's the author of a new book about the global migration crisis, Rescue: Refugees and the Political Crisis of Our Time (Simon & Schuster/TED Books). On February 19, 2018, Miliband gave a lecture on this topic as an American Academy in Berlin, as an Airbus Distinguished Visitor. We sat down with him afterwards to discuss the challenges facing the 65 million worldwide refugees, the challenges facing the nations that are taking them in, and the state of the international liberal order.
