Jaguars and Mirages have been the prime platforms of the Indian Air Force for decades. The aircraft have been upgraded while in service and are even today very lethal platforms. He has commanded a fighter squadron and has served as Chief Operational Officer of two premier fighter bases of Western Air Command. During all these tenures, there were no incidents! accidents. He has also functioned as Director of Strategic Intelligence in Strategic Force Command. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor, Fighter Combat Leader and Instrument Rating Instructor and Examiner. He is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College. He has undergone Higher Command Course at MHOW, where he was awarded the Commander's medal for research work on nuclear capabilities in the region. He has attained first division in both MPhil and MSc (Defence Studies) degrees. He has been commended twice by the Chief of Air Staff and awarded three stars of flight safety. In his previous appointment as Commanding Officer, of one of the Tactical Air Centre (TAC), he earned the admiration from commanders at all levels of South Western Command (Army), for his initiative in conducting training seminars and joint operational exercises up to Brigade level in the concerned Corps zone. The unit also conducted the highest number of Counter Surface Force missions in Exercise Gauntlet- III and IV Under his leadership, the unit was adjudged as the 'Best TAC' for the year 2011.
