This is a spotlight on the Scriptures: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1.

This is one of the most profound statements that has ever been made, and yet we find that it is a statement that is surely being questioned in these days in which we are living in... While God exists eternally (Psa_90:2), this marked the beginning of the universe in time and space.

This description of God creating heaven and earth is be understood this way. (1) recent, i.e., thousands not millions of years ago; (2) God ex nihilo, the heaven, and the earth. i.e., out of nothing; and (3) He did it i.e., in six, repeated, twenty-four-hour periods called "days" and we recognized this, by this phrase, "the evening and the morning." Scripture does not support a creation date that makes the earth any more than about ten thousand years old.

We need to be reminded, that in the beginning, there is someone at the center of everything. In the beginning, there is someone who rules over heaven and the earth. In the beginning, there is someone who defines what is pure love, power, wisdom, faithfulness, righteousness, and grace and what it looks like. In the beginning, there is someone who controls the forces of physical nature and oversees the events of human history. In the beginning, there is someone who authors the plan details of the story of every human being who will ever live. In the beginning, there is someone who is worthy of honor, dominion, and power. In the beginning, there is someone who is deserving of the complete devotion, and unending worship of everyone. There is someone who is at the center of all things, and it is not you or me. In the beginning God. This is a spotlight on the Scriptures. 6 5 24
