This morning it hit me … the overwhelming reality of what YOU might be going through. The burden you may be carrying. The weight of the decisions you may need to make. The immense pain you may be enduring. The total uncertainty you may be walking in.

In this humbling moment, I realized you may have come here today seeking a divine word from God that would somehow assure you he is in this with you. You may have pressed play today asking him for a sign. This may have been your Hail Mary pass trying one last time to hear from God.

If that is you, I have the sweetest news … God has been whispering to my soul about you today. He’s made me extra tender toward your situation and your seeking. I’ve asked him to use me as his vessel to tell you precisely what he wants you to hear.

Psalm 145: 13-19:
The Lord always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does.
The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.
The eyes of all look to you in hope; you give them their food as they need it.
When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.
The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness.
The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth
He grants the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them.

God has made promises over you, and he wants you to know today that HE ALWAYS KEEPS HIS PROMISES. Others have failed you. Others have broken their promises and left you with a mess. You’ve probably made some promises that you have failed to uphold. But God’s promises never waiver. Ever. There’s nothing you could ever do to change his promises for you.

What are his promises for you specifically? Here are a few:

• God promises to be with you.
• God promises to help you.
• God promises to take care of your needs.
• God promises to answer your prayers.
• God promises freedom from sin.
• God promises to work everything out for your good.
• God promises nothing can ever separate you from him.

These promises, and so many more, have covered you today. Although you are walking through some hard times, you have absolutely nothing to fear. Do you hear that … there’s nothing to fear! God is with you in this. He will guide your steps. He will go before you and make a way. You can trust him. He will keep his promises.

My sister, do you hear that? Kim, God will keep his promises to you. Courtney, God will keep his promises to you. Kris, God will keep his promises to you. Nicky, God will keep his promises to you. Rebecca, Kelly, Catherine, Stacey, Laura, Diane, Sarah, Whitney, ALL of God’s girls, he will keep his promises to you. He’s not going to let you down. You don’t have to react in fear. You don’t have to run in shame. You don’t have to figure this out on your own.

Verse 14 says, “The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.” Remember the old commercial where a woman laid in the floor and in the worst acting role ever, she said, “Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t get back up!” Who also remembers the really old commercial of a woman soaking in a big bubble bath and she said, “Calgon, take me away.” That’s precisely what our God does for us! He helps us get back up. He takes our burdens.

Jesus often refers to himself as the Good Shepherd and we are his sheep. Watch a few sheep videos and you will understand why. Sheep continually need help. Did you know if a sheep somehow falls on it’s back with it’s legs straight up, it’s stuck there. It cannot physically get up itself. The Shepherd is required. Did you know if a sheep’s wool grows too long and matted it will eventually paralyze that sheep. The Shepherd is required.

Your Shepherd is right here, my sister. He will get you back on your feet again. He will pick you up from this mess. He will relieve you of the growing burden so you can move forward. He’s not going to leave you here alone.

That same verse in the MSG translation says, “God gives a fresh start to those ready to quit.” Where are you ready to just quit? Where are you beyond your limits, stretched too thin and feel absolutely incapable of continuing? This is where God ever so sweetly says, “My girl, today’s a new day. My mercies are new for you here. I will supernaturally strengthen you anew today. This is your fresh start. Wake up to what I have for you here.”

Verse 17 tells us God is righteous in everything he does. My guess is, some wrong things have happened to you. Gosh, life can certainly be unfair sometimes, huh? We do live in a fallen world with humans who royally screw up on the regular, so of course wrong things have happened here. But with all that is wrong, you can know with certainty GOD IS RIGHT and HE WILL DO WHAT IS RIGHT.

The definition of righteous includes these two words: Excellent and Consistent. Because God is righteous in every way, he’s going to do what is right for you and he is going to be consistently excellent in every detail!

You can count on that! Can’t you look back and see how God has been consistently excellent in your life? He has continually worked all things together for good. And if it’s not good yet, then God’s not done yet. And this thing too, this thing you’re facing right now, the thing that brought you here today seeking a divine word from God, THIS WILL BE WORKED BY GOD HIMSELF INTO SOMETHING GOOD. He will be consistently excellent in this. He will do what is RIGHT!

But what I really love is our God isn’t just righteous (vs 17), but go back up to where we started in verse 13, our God is also gracious. What a combination! He is righteous and gracious! He is consistently excellent in doing what is right, and he does it with divine grace and kindness.

What’s God doing today in your life? What is he saying to you? He’s saying, “Trust me, with divine grace and kindness I am, consistently excellent in doing what is right.”

Could God possibly take this mess you’re in and do what is right? ABSOLUTELY! Could God do what is right without hurting everyone and causing more pain? ABSOLUTELY! Could God somehow, someway, use all of this for good? ABSOLUTELY! Not you … you can’t do that, but God can! I believe he’s asking you now, “Will you let me?”

Finally verse 19, “He grants the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them.” Believing that God grants our every desire can be a slippery slope. If we’re not careful, we begin treating God like a genie in a bottle and we start making wishes. That’s NOT what this is about.

Instead, what God is doing is growing a relationship with you where your heart becomes like the heart of the Father. Through this, God is changing our will to align with his will. And once we are in alignment, we can genuinely pray for anything and it will be done. Why? Because we are not going to pray for anything outside of God’s will when our will is aligned with his.

That’s what God is doing here. Through all of this, he’s growing a relationship with you so you can see his will is better than your own. His plans are bigger than yours. In the fullness of this relationship is where we can finally bring everything to him and say, “God, my will is for your will to be done, and nothing else.” That’s what Jesus did, and that’s what he is asking you to do.

Are you ready to pray that today? God, my will is for your will to be done, and nothing else. I don’t have to be right. I don’t have to get revenge. I don’t have to understand. I don’t have to know everything. I truly want your will more than anything else.

Now that is surrender. And truly, that is freedom.

Only God can offer freedom in surrender. Only God can pick us up from where we have been stuck and give us the confidence to move on. Only God can make this right.

Once again, God proves, if we take one step towards him, he will take a thousand towards us!

Read that scripture one more time and receive the freedom in your full surrender here:

The Lord always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does.
The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.
The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness.
The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth
