Greetings, and welcome to The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week, the podcast companion to The End, the website and newsletter that shines a light back on audio fiction shows after they've reached the finale of a season or the conclusion of the series. I am your host and the curator of The End, Evo Terra.

Let’s get into it, shall we?

Last Week

The most recent issue of The End—the 63rd—highlighted 7 shows in either the Complete Series or Season Finales sections… and 4 of them wrapped in the last few days.

  • 🍔🌌⏳ • Midnight Burger, a dramatized scifi comedy series from Joe Fisher & Fable & Folly, posted the Season 3 finale on Nov 14. Listen to the 44 current episodes in about 42 hours.

  • 🎭🔮🌍 • Metastories, a narrated classic tragedies series from Metastories, posted their Season 3 finale also on Nov 14. Listen to the 12 current episodes in just over 2 hours

  • 🌌🎤🏳️‍🌈 • Midnight on Mercy Mountain, a dramatized comedy series produced by a queer creator named Mallory Spencer, posted the Season 1 finale on Nov 13 Listen to the 17 current episodes in about 3 hours.

  • 🧛🏻‍♂️🍷🦇 • Re: Dracula, a narrated horror series from Bloody FM, completed the entire series on Nov 13. Settle in for a listening time of over 23 hours across the 110 episodes.)

  • And be sure to listen to the end of the audio file to hear trailers or snippets for these shows.

This Week

With every issue, I make two recommendations for great audio fiction I personally love. As with all things in life, YMMV.

  • 🌊👫🌟 • My first recommendation is Lake Song, a dramatized scifi series from Make-Believe Association. Not all post-apocalyptic or dystopian stories need to be terrible, nearly hopeless tales of barely eeked-out survival. This is one of those stories, told through the voices of a talented cast and sound designers. Listen to the trailer.: [trailer plays] Lake Song is a complete series. You’ll need about 5 hours to listen to all 12 episodes.

  • 🕰️📞🌟 • My next recommendation is The Dial-Up, a dramatized sci-fi comedy series from Philip Catherwood. This one is short and sweet, but it’s a fun premise that's nearly perfect for a fiction podcast. Here’s the Season 2 trailer: [trailer plays] The Dial-up currently has 2 seasons with 9 to total episodes. You’ll need less than 2 hours to catch up, with Season 3 slated to start in September next year.

Next Week

The latest issue of The End has 4 entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section, but none of them starts up again in the next few days. I’ll take this time to tell you two things:

  1. I recently revamped the newsletter and show pages on the website. You won’t see those changes if you only read the newsletter, as email formatting is much less full-featured than what I can do with a webpage. So if you haven’t clicked through to see the site, do that. You’ll love it.
  2. The bills are coming due for some investments, and I really could use your help. You can be come an Individaul supporter of The End for $25 bucks A YEAR. Yeah. That’s all. Supporting Creators can sign up for twice that amount, which is still tiny! If you can, please go to TheEnd.fyi/support and sign up. I could use the help.

And please remember that trailers or snippets for the four shows I mentioned at the start of this episode are coming your way right after I say…

And that’s all for this episode of The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week. For these and the other audio fiction shows featured, highlighted, and coming soon that were included in the 63rd issue of The End, including links to listen to the shows mentioned in this episode, please visit TheEnd.fyi. I’m Evo Terra. Thanks for listening.
