Todays show is crafted for doulas but honestly – we can all use a little boundary refresh right? Ashley and I are joined today by Doula Heather Taylor. First, for background - Heather shares what happened during her personal birth experiences that brought her into birth work. We then begin with what kind of boundaries and filters Heather brought to birth work from her life. These are going to be very relatable to most doulas.

Heather talks us through her fast and furious first year in business that led to exhaustion and doula burnout. She knew something needed to change but realigning her work and home boundaries was going to refine what she thought her ideal doula role was. Growing pains – we all have them in birth work(more than once) and Heather was able to shift them to create a sustainable career.

Boundaries foster trust and reliability in home and work life. Good boundaries with your clients also bring solid trust between you. Having a comprehensive understanding of what boundaries are and how to successfully implement them will expand you and lead to personal and professional growth.
