Omar Passons, Candidate, County Board of Supervisors joins Bob to discuss how he was was born in San Diego, 10 weeks premature, and he wouldn’t be here today without the support of a strong community and this County. With his birth mother unable to care for him, Omar grew up with over 100 foster brothers and sisters in Clairemont and Lemon Grove, playing Little League at Mt. Acadia Park and attending Encanto Elementary School in Southeastern San Diego, where he met his childhood sweetheart Erin, whom he would eventually marry.

Omar is not a Sacramento insider, and he is not a career politician – Omar is a homegrown leader with a lifelong commitment to serving our community. Omar has a Master's Degree in Public Health and evaluated public health and social service programs - nearly 40% of the County's budget is health and social services. While in college, Omar worked as an in-home healthcare aide for the developmentally disabled and as a Certified Nurses Aide at a Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Omar has spent the last decade working to stimulate and foster local businesses, including the craft beer community and provide workers with a path to advancing their dreams and careers. As a land use attorney, he has also seen firsthand that progressive change on affordable housing and green building practices go hand-in-hand with creating jobs and boosting our economy.

Omar and his wife Erin live in the North Park neighborhood, where Omar served on the Board of the North Park Community Association for 10 years, including two as its President. Omar is a board member of the San Diego Workforce Partnership, CDC Small Business Finance and the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation and a member of the La Jolla/Pacific Beach Indivisible chapter.
