Show Summary: In a world filled with a lot of news outlets, is Libertarianism enjoying a recent renaissance? Has libertarianism become an emotionally charged, and often misunderstood word in our current political climate? Some people associate reason magazine and the staff as “belt way libertarians” which is to say they’ll settle for a penny instead of demanding a pound. Indeed, Reason Magazine has done a lot for libertarianism, and surprisingly not as soft as most people think it is. Today we talk to the former Reason’s Editor in Chief Matt Welch, and we get his opinions on libertarian media, and the current political climate. You cannot mess with Reason, and you shouldn’t miss this show!

About the Guest: Matt Welch is an editor at large at Reason, the libertarian magazine of “Free Minds and Free Markets.” He served as Reason‘s editor in chief from 2008-2016. He is co-author, along with Nick Gillespie, of the 2011 book The Declaration of Independents: How Libertarian Politics Can Fix What’s Wrong With America, which Tyler Cowen calledthe up-to-date statement of libertarianism.” Welch also wrote the 2007 book McCain: The Myth of a Maverick.
