Meymuna Hussein-Cattan is the Founder and Executive Director at The Tiyya Foundation, which creates communities of support and organizes access to economic opportunities and critical resources for immigrants, refugees, and displaced indigenous communities. She is also the Founder of Flavors from Afar, which is focused on serving bright ingredients prepared fresh by local chefs who happen to be former refugees & asylum seekers. In this episode, Meymuna shares her personal journey that led to founding The Tiyya Foundation as well as Flavors from Afar Catering. She shares how she's learned to solve problems and strategize. Meymuna talks about the role models & mentors she's found through her board of directors, but also how this organization is pioneering something new. She shares how she combats Imposter Syndrome. Also, Meymuna reminds us of the importance of taking breaks & vacation, as it can help you do the best problem solving and keep you from burning out. Lastly, she shares the importance of therapy!
