In the news, the Wall Street Journal published an article highlighting the lengths that some Amazon sellers will go to track down customers who leave bad reviews. While against Amazon’s TOS, it doesn’t stop the mostly overseas sellers from doing this in order to amass thousands of nearly perfect 5-star reviews by offering refunds, gift cards, and even cash to remove or revise negative reviews.
In today’s episode, Matt and Mike discuss some of the most common black hat tactics that sellers are using to game the system on Amazon and why you should steer clear of using these tactics. There are two types of black hat tactics sellers use those that help their own products and those that sabotage their competitors. Matt and Mike do not condone using any of these black hat tactics because it can put your business at risk, but they think you should be aware of them for your own protection.
