My guest today is Bruno Otranto who is a professional DJ with more than 20 years of experience in the international electronic music scene, studies in Music Business & Management from the University of Brighton, and is the founder of the Beatheim DJ Academy in Berlin. Being a Berlin local for more than 10 years, and bringing a breadth of experience in the international scene, Bruno has been able to establish himself as a respected part of the Berlin club scene, regularly performing at well-known clubs and festivals. In addition, Bruno works as a music producer, event organizer, and artist manager and manages his own record label: Monog Records.
EPISODE SUMMARY
At the beginning of the episode, Bruno shares his story about how he started DJing when he was 14 years old and tells the story about his first ever DJ gig at the age of 16.
We then discuss his story of studying and living in Brighton and moving to Berlin. He then tells stories about organizing his own events not only in Brighton but also later on in Berlin. He also shares his learnings and tips about what to do and what not to do when it comes to organizing your own party series.
We then continue with discussing the story behind Beatheim a Berlin-based DJ academy that Bruno founded during the pandemic. He tells the interesting story of how the business idea itself was born and how he could turn this idea into a reality.
