Kia ora, Talofa, Ma’lelei, Bula, Aloha and Welcome to Season 10 Episode 05 of Breakfast Bites, by TEIVOVOdigital.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news, on Friday morning 05 July 2024 where it is partly cloudy 24 degrees Celsius at 5am.
Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian, in the middle of the blue continent.
In Rugby Union: Our world famous tips for all the Test rugby this weekend: Fijiana XV to fujitsu the Wallaroos, the Wallabies to wallop Wales, New Zealand to enzo England, Fiji to gringo Georgia, France to duponto Argentina, South Africa to irk Ireland, Samoa to samosa Italy, Canada to skippykangaroo Scotland, Chile to bongochili Hong Kong, USA to uzo Romania and the Maori All Blacks to judo Japan.
In rugby league: Latrell Mitchell was the star for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in their 32-16 win over the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium last night.
Fresh from his heroics in ORIGIN II, onlookers could’ve been forgiven for thinking Mitchell was wearing the sky blue.
Put simply, South Sydney’s fullback was everywhere.
And our world famous tips for the other NRL games today: Cronulla Sharks to googaloo Gold Coast Titans in Coffs Harbour and the Brisbane Broncos to poopooroo Penrith Panthers at Suncorp Stadium.
And in football: Our world famous tips for the EURO 2024 Last 8 quarter finals in Germany starting tomorrow morning: Spain to googaloo Germany, Portugal to portorico France, England to swizzle Switzerland and the Netherlands to troppo Turkiye.
At Wimbledon: Young Scot wild card, Jacob Fearnley pushed Serbian legend, Novak Djokovic over four hard-fought sets, for his second round win at Wimbledon yesterday.
'Jacob made me earn my win. The match deserved to go to a fifth set – but I'm very glad it didn't.
There were challenging conditions today. Very, very windy. Not easy to find the right tempo and the right rhythm on the ball,” Djokovic said.
“I'm still a little bit rusty on the movement, but I don't worry about reinjuring my knee,” he added.
In the Paris Olympic Games: The US Olympic Team isn't leaving their safety in the hands of the French. They are working closely with the US State department, taking 70 agents over to France to support them on the ground.
These agents will be stationed within all sports American athletes are competing in.
Some will be embedded within teams for team sports, while others will be constantly present at facilities for individual athletes wanting to train at any time of the day or night.
And in Combat Sports: Youtuber cum fake boxer, Jake Paul has lined up Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. as an alternative opponent if his controversial fight with Mike Tyson doesn't go ahead.
Chavez Jr. 38, previously held the WBC World Middleweight title from 2011 to 2012.
He has won 53 of his professional fights, drawing one and losing six.
In Sports Biz: LA Lakers rookie Bronny James signed a fully guaranteed contract, according to ESPN, the same day his father, LeBron, also agreed to a massive US$104Million extension to stay in Los Angeles.
Bronny, 19, signed a four-year, US$7.9M contract worth US$1.2M in the first year, escalating each year to the final year at US$2.48M for the 2027-28 season.
In LA it’s all about who you know, you know.
