Ep 126: Everything you ever wanted to know - Cloud
Manage episode 323500472 series 2701749
“Everything you wanted to know”, a brand-new, bite-sized podcast series by our Information, Communications, Technology Business Committee. In this series we focus on demystifying the latest in tech, in conversation with some of the leading players in the industry.
Ruma Balasubramanian, Managing Director of Google Cloud's business in South East Asia, talks with Daisy Radford of the ICT Committee about what the term "cloud" means in the digital world. She shared how cloud technology refers to technology and processes needed to store, manage and access data that's transferred over the cloud, rather than data that remains on your computer's hard drive or a company's on-site server. Innovations in cloud technology have created convenience for so many daily activities, from accessing personalised services to storing our data without compromising security.
In addition to debunking myths about cybersecurity in the cloud, Ruma and Daisy also discussed how huge data centres that support the cloud and other technologies are making the move to sustainability and remaining committed in that belief.
