Mark Chavalas (PhD UCLA, ancient Near Eastern History and Languages) is an educator, speaker, author, editor and archaeologist and has taught at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for over thirty years. He has excavated nine seasons in Syria at various sites, and has had fellowships at schools including Harvard, Yale, Cornell, and UC Berkeley. Among his publications are the co-edited Mesopotamia and the Bible and the co-authored IVP Bible Background Commentary: Old Testament. He and his wife Kimberlee have six children and three grandchildren, and attend First Evangelical Free Church in Onalaska, WI. mailto:mchavalas@eagle.uwlax.edu
