Edwin Remsberg is a photographer based in Maryland making documentary images in the photojournalism tradition. He received a B.S. in photojournalism from the University of Maryland, College Park. Remsberg's career began as an intern at the News American in 1985. He was a staff photographer for The Baltimore Sun for three years until he left in 1989 to become a freelance photographer, shooting pictures for magazines and corporate clients. Remsberg's photos appear regularly in regional and national magazines. In 1987 his photograph of the Amtrak disaster at Chase, Maryland was chosen by Life magazine for their "Pictures of the Year" issue and was later reprinted in Life's "Pictures of the Decade." His photos appear around the country and around the world, thanks to the work he does for Getty Images. His stock images are represented by Getty and Alamy. His first book, Maryland Vanishing Lives, was published in 1994 by Hopkins Press. A second book, Testament to Union, was released in 1998. He has also worked on an update of Maryland: A New Guide to the Old Line State. In addition to the work he does for clients, Edwin Remsberg also pursues special projects that capture his interest. He traveled to Haiti to cover the violence-scarred elections in that country and produced photo essays on Belize and on the war in El Salvador. He is involved in an ongoing project documenting his grandfather's farm in Harford County. Edwin Remsberg currently lives the life of an agrarian artist on his sheep farm in Harford County Maryland.
