* God’s favor gets you in the door, but excellence keeps you there. * The best testimony you can have is being excellent at what you do. * Why? * Because your work is worship - it’s how you say “Thank you” to God. * Because your work is worth-ship - it’s how others discover if God is worth serving or not. * Backstory - Paul is talking about order in a corporate setting (church). * He talks about prophecy vs tongues. * Vs 6-8 - he pulled in an illustration from battle. * The Israelites would assemble to battle at the sound of the trumpet. * Think of the bugler - he’s got ONE JOB! * If he isn’t excellent at his job, they wouldn’t assemble. * If they didn’t assemble, they lose. * Nobody wants to join the losers. * If he does a good job, they will assemble. * If they assemble, they win. * Everyone wants to join the winners. * Our work should play a clear tune for others to hear. * It should be the most pleasant sound anyone has ever heard. * If we aren’t excellent in our work, people suffer.
