Producer and Host of University of Chicago Radio Station WHPK Program: International Music Around the World

Community DJ and University of Chicago alumna Marta Nicholas has had the longest relationship with the school and the station and recalls visiting friends at WHPK’s predecessor station in the 1950s, when she was a student at the University of Chicago. After her time at the University, she lived and travelled throughout Europe and Asia. Listening to her speak is a treat in itself. Please join her radio show on WHPK radio which is a University and community radio show. WHPK stands for Woodlawn Hyde Park Kenwood for the community in and around University of Chicago campus.

In the summer 2024 through August from – 3-5 pm on Thursday

Then from September onwards back to the original time at 5-7 pm CT.

The Radio streams live on radio at Whpk.org live and 88.5 fm

You will hear a variety of music and topics live from the underground.. ranging from history of the music ranging from Haitian to Reggae and Caribbean, French, Russian, Italian, Chinese, African, Ragas and more.

She also encourages you to share your music and interests with her and are welcome to call during her show.
