Recorded: February 5th 2024 | In this week's episode we sit down with the one and only Dan "Big Cat" Katz. The boys are out in Vegas for the Big Game and decide to chop it up with Big Cat for an episode. The guys start off the show talking about the Big Game and who they are rooting for. Big Cat gets into how there is one NFL that just somehow owns him and ruins his bets whenever he bets against this guy. Then Will turns into Billy Basketball as he has become a fan of Nebraska Basketball even though he has no idea how the basketball landscape works. Will and Taylor then turn the focus to more of the nitty gritty about the inner workings of Barstool. Big Cat tells the story of how he started at Barstool and how he originally found Barstool Sports in the first place. The guys then get into how Pardon My Take started and how it was actually terrible when it first started. It is interesting to hear how a top 3 sports podcast in the world has gone through so many different types of growing pains. The guys finish up by talking about the move to Chicago and the rivalry that is going on between them and New York. Big Cat talks about how he doesn't necessarily like the stigma of their being a rivalry because he doesn't see it that way. The difference is in the type of content that is being put out by both offices. This episode is a great look behind the curtains of Big Cat as a person and his rise to stardom in the Barstool Sports/Sports Media world. Enjoy Fellas. (Also we understand the audio quality isn't up to par, we are working behind the scenes to make sure this doesn't continue in our other Vegas interviews) TIMESTAMP CHAPTERS 0:00 Intro 2:25 Big Cat Is Owned By This NFL Player 4:12 Introducing, Billy Basketball 8:35 Taylor’s WILD Fan Take 17:55 Why Big Cat Loves Podcasting 21:01 Big Cats Start With Barstool And The Growth 33:05 The Start of Pardon My Take 43:49 Barstool’s Worst Hire 45:13 The “Barstool Difference” 46:06 Big Cat Got Mad At The Boys 51:11 “Gambling Is Impossible” 57:36 Barstool Chicago (vs. Barstool New York) 1:07:45 Chicken Or Orangutan?
