One year after medically assisted dying was legalized The Calgary Chapter of Dying with Dignity Canada is hosting a presentation on the implementation of now legalized Medical Assistance in Dying in Alberta. Angela is joined by the MC of this event, June Churchill.

Speakers will include:
- Salimah Walji-Shivji LLB, MSW, General Counsel & Chief Client Engagement Officer, AgeCare
- Jan Lackie, an advocate whose father, Ian, received a legally assisted death in the province of British Columbia in the summer of 2016
Background: The Supreme Court’s historic 2015 ruling in Carter v. Canada sent Canada on a path toward the legalization of medically assisted dying. Now, a year after Parliament passed Bill C-14, the federal Liberals’ controversial assisted dying law, the province of Alberta has laid the framework to ensure patients can access compassionate high quality care, while ensuring staff and physicians can provide services within the law.
