Willing

  • 1 Peter 5:2
    • A choice to serve. Willingly, not grudgingly.
    • “Place Sharing” – standing in the place of others and refusing to turn away in their darkest hour. – Andrew Root on Bonhoeffer
  • He willingly chose the lifestyle of a Jesus Follower.
  • He willingly chose to put others first.
  • He willingly chose to take the hits for the greater good.

Example

  • 1 Peter 5:3
  • Philippians 4:9
  • Example starts with an inner life devoted to God.
  • Example ends with everyday actions.

Humility

  • 1 Peter 5:5
  • Humility is not finished. (Be a learner)
  • Humility is about serving. (Be a servant)
  • Humility recognizes personal brokenness.
