Balanced Budget Coming in … 2041

We have some good news and some bad news. The good news: The feds plan to balance the budget before 2070. The bad news? They won’t be balancing the budget until after 2041! By then, interest charges will have cost taxpayers $802 billion.

The CTF has been telling the federal government how to avoid the crunch.

Liquor Taxes on a Bender

Imagine hearing two bartenders whispering about running up your bill. That would set off a few alarm bells. It turns out that is exactly what the federal government is doing as it overindulges in tax hikes for beer and liquor each year, without a vote in Parliament.

Waste Watch: Global Affairs Drops Over $40,000 On Fancy Furniture

While most Canadians spent the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic tightening their belts, Global Affairs Canada was outfitting overseas diplomatic offices with over $40,000 in custom furniture produced by an Ottawa-based designer.
