2020 has been a nightmare year for BC when it comes to overdose deaths, with continued record numbers reported each month. To help combat the crisis, a new type of take-home drug test has become quite popular in the province, as it allows users to test their products for substances such as fentanyl, and an be used as a literal life or death test which could prevent people from dying from an overdose. Despite the popularity of the test in Vancouver and the interior, it has yet to make an appearance on Vancouver Island, with no immediate plans to introduce it here, leaving many health experts on the island baffled. Host Ben Waterworth chats with the author of a brand new article appearing today on the Capital Daily Brishti Basu about the test as well as trying to find out why it has yet to materialise in the local community for us here on the island.
