Welcome to Capturing the Abandoned, A foray into the world of rural and urban abandoned exploration!

Hello my name is Vincent Gearhart and along with my co-host Lex Nichols, I would like to welcome you to Episode 2 of Capturing the Abandoned.

This podcast is for and about rural and urban abandoned explorers and you can find our Instagram feed at Capturing the Abandoned - @capturingtheabandoned - and on our Facebook Page by the same name.

In this episode, we have an entertaining extended interview with our talented guest so we're just going to jump right into it.

We are very excited to have an opportunity to interview Vincent David Johnson, a professional freelance photographer from Chicago and a fellow abandoned explorer that we have been following on Instagram for quite some time now.

Vincent's pet project is called Lost Americana, and the following statement from his website pretty much sums up his mission -

Lost Americana isn't about saving old buildings, or preserving a way of life.. It's about what happens when 30 million people leave. And the ruins they leave behind.

Wow! That's Powerful!

Vincent's First Post on Instagram as Lost Americana is a picture of a once beautiful old barn located in his home town of Joliet, IL. This image was posted on July 1st, 2015 and after that first image kicked it off, he later Hit 10,000 followers in just a little over a year later on August 17, 2016 - He now has 13,400 plus followers.

You can find Vincent's Lost Americana on Instagram, facebook and on the website as Lost Americana. From his scope of work, It is very apparent that Vincent is a talented and passionate photographer, and a man on a mission.

And now, here is our interview with a fellow abandoned explorer, Mr. Vincent David Johnson!
