There have been so many moments in my career where I could have used a bit of courage, or a “microdose” of bravery. And to be honest, I wish I would have known this week’s guest in those moments. I’m chatting with Dr. Kristen Lee, head of the Behavior Science Program at Northeastern University and author of Worth the Risk. In this week’s episode of Career Strategies for Women that Work, Dr. Lee is sharing how to create small acts of bravery and connection to regain self-confidence and the resilience we need to live full and meaningful lives.
This episode includes:
** Understanding Risk
** Small steps to Microdosing Bravery
** Ways to Grow Resilience
As a human resilience researcher and as a psychotherapist Dr. Lee was curious about resilience—what contributes towards it, what allows us to take risks, what contributes to it. And as someone with a lived experience with anxiety and perfectionism, she realized she needed to take the risk of being more explicit around the dual narrative of her story. “And that was a risk, for me, worth taking,” Dr. Lee says, “to become more comfortable with the uncomfortable in my own story to embrace that duality and then to share it more explicitly and wholeheartedly with the world.”
Dr. Lee’s journey is so beautiful and the authenticity that shines through her book, Worth the Risk, she is truly a reflection of her own resilience and bravery.
