"Are You Man Enough" is a 1973 hit song recorded by The Four Tops. It appeared on the soundtrack to the movie "Shaft" in Africa.
When I hear that song, I think of enemies! You don't always have to walk down a bad street to watch who you're talking to. Enemies are everywhere you go. You can do longer give your opinion or carry on a decent conversation without someone giving you a hard time. When you look around, all of your good luck is gone because of what someone might have said or done.
Looking at the Four Tops's point of view, it's very tough. They said in the lyrics, "You can't turn your back on a smiling face. Next thing you know, there ain't no trace of you.." No trace of you. Those words right there let's you know that you're gone.
Chorus: Are you man enough?
Big and bad enough?
Are you gonna let em shoot you down?
When the evil flies and your brother cries,
Are you gonna be around?
There are people out there that can get upset with you over nothing. They are mean enough to include your whole family. If you can, be at peace with all men. I'm thinking of Romans 12:18. I'm Gail Nobles and this is Postgirl's Recordings.
