Robert is one of ccMixter’s finest Wordsmiths. He is also one of the most unique and evocative vocalists that contributes to our musical community. Perfect pitch and tone are not his strong suits, but once he delivers one of his Dylanesqe lines with genuine authenticity, he has my undivided attention. I am simply floored with what he’s acomplished with “Dilation.” Using SO SHA’s hopefull lyrics as a springboard, Robert launches into a brutally honest assessment of “Love” and its less popular qualities. Referencing a stream of analogies, he leaves the listener guessing whether Love finding you is a good or bad thing—or both. Sometimes we are reluctant to be found by Love, making the energy of Love seem like a bit of a stalker.
I wanted to remix his vocals with a track that stayed out of the way and let his performance take front and center. And yes, Robert, you are that good.
