Jan Lahodny is one of the most unique figures in the history of Texas high school sports Following a highly successful academic and athletic career in both her small hometown high school in Flatonia, Texas, and as a scholarship athlete at Temple Jr. College in Temple, Texas. Jan went one to play basketball at the University of Texas and graduated with a bachelor of Science Degree in English, Health and Physical Education.
She received her masters of Education Degree in Administration from the University of Houston in Victoria. Her knowledge of the game and ability to motivate players, coaches and fans is reflected by her accomplishments.
Inducted into the Texas Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in May of 1999.
National Coach of the year - 1995 National Federation of Coaches
Texas Association of Basketball Coaches “Coach of the Year" in 1982,1986, and 1991.
Three State championships and 7 state runner up titles
1998 U.I.L. Excellence Award
Compiled a career coaching record 707 wins - 264 losses
Authored the book “Competitive Drills for winning Basketball”
Featured in a basketball instructional video, “A Systemic Approach to Coaching”
Authored the book “Offensive Sets the Win State Championships”
Authored the “Book Zone and Specialty Defense”
Written many articles for magazine publications
Clinician for coaches and players throughout the state
