Welcome back to the latest edition of NextHome Valleywide News. Lately, we’ve been talking about hacks for Phoenix homeowners. First, we talked about how planting rye grass in early October will give you a beautiful winter lawn. Then we talked about how to maximize the life of your tile roof. Today, we are going to answer the question, “What else do I need to know to take good care of my home?”

One thing to keep in mind is that we have very hard water in Phoenix. If you haven’t already, install a water softening system; it’s a great idea to prevent mineral buildup. I also recommend installing a reverse osmosis system just to make the quality of the drinking water better.

Because we have a pretty dusty environment here, you need to make sure that you take care of your air conditioner by changing out the filter once a month. Doing this on a regular basis will keep your home cleaner and your system running better. You also want to keep up with A/C maintenance because it’s such an important part of the home in our climate. Do what you can to lengthen the life of your unit and avoid having to make constant repairs.
These little hacks will help avoid big problems.
We also recommend having monthly pest control done on your home to avoid unwanted pests like ants, spiders, and scorpions. We don’t have a lot of flying pests, but you want to avoid those crawling insects. The termites we have here aren’t the wood-eating type we see in other parts of the country, but they can still cause damage underneath the home. If you notice mud tubes around your foundation, call a reputable termite treatment company to take care of the home.

We look forward to answering more of your great questions about real estate. If you have any questions or you’re thinking about buying or selling in Phoenix, give us a call or send us an email. We would love to hear from you.
