In one way or another, today’s lessons confront us with the enigma of God’s sovereignty and human responsibility. If God is sovereign over us and the events of his world, how can God hold us responsible for our actions? God is in charge, right? Everything is fixed. We’re just doing what God predestined us to do so why bother? Why try? What’s the point? Listen to Father Maney's sermon and resolve to ask the Lord to make you a better disciple. Take responsibility for showing your love for the Lord in what you think, do, and say. Lectionary texts for today are Jeremiah 8.1-11; Psalm 139.1-5, 12-18; Philemon 1-21; Luke 14.25-33.
