Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being rapidly introduced into the workplace, creating debate around what it means for our work and organizations.

Vastly implemented already in Banks for fraud, civil protection for security, it relies on huge quantities of data. Will AI be present in all companies in the near future? Is it desirable?

Lauren Waardenburg is an assistant professor of information systems at IÉSEG School of Management. She based her research on AI and the future of work, and wrote the book “Managing AI Wisely: From Development to Organizational Change in Practice” along with two coauthors.

Together, we explore the big questions of AI development:

  • What are the implications of AI development for the organization of traditional companies?
  • What are the ethics limits of AI? Are we able to control them? The very intrinsic nature of AI is to learn by itself on data-based iteration: how to cope with AI when they are no longer understandable?

We also tackle what Lauren calls “extreme contexts” where the line is blurred when it comes to AI and data usage, as well as the part AI could play in transforming our society, for a better future.
