Today's episode is all about the new hellmanns fridge night app and how to reduce food waste and also I just was one of 100 award winning competition home cooks to be featured in Brian Baumgartner upcoming cookbook releases in September available for pre order and talked to Joanne from NBC password reboot with Jimmy Fallon today one step closer to meeting him. And now here's my fridge night app recipe and we need our listens to check it out all goes to feeding America. Made a impossibly good taco chili over fried grit cakes and I took the fridge night challenge to a whole new level and this recipe will be featured on my upcoming podcast on Spotify episode 2 of chef ava maries recipe mixtape podcast so it's only on Spotify now and one day iheart radio will broadcast my culinary podcast. This recipe is not vegan but it's a vegetarian option but does contain dairy products I hope you enjoy Impossibly good taco chili over leftover grit cakes For chili 3 tbl vegetable oil 1 lb impossibly foods plant based meat 1/2 onion chopped 1 green bell pepper seeded and diced 3 cloves garlic grated 1 pkg taco bell homestyle taco seasoning mix 1 can bushs chili beans rinsed and drained 1 can red gold diced tomatoes in juices 2 cups water For grit cakes 2 cups leftover cooked grits Vegetable oil for frying 1 cup all purpose flour 2 eggs beaten 1/3 cup milk 2 cups plain breadcrumbs 2 tbl taco seasoning mix Avocado cheese and sour cream to garnish Hellmanns chili honey drizzle sauce to serve on top Method In a pot heat oil over medium high heat once hot add impossible foods plant based meat and veggies and cook until rendered down do not drain excess fat. Then add in taco seeaoning mix, beans and tomatoes and stir then add In water and bring it to a boil then simmer for 25 minutes or until it has reduced Meanwhile make the grit cakes get breading stations ready. Form leftover grit cakes into cakes and roll into flour to coat then dip into egg mixture and then into taco seasoned breadcrumbs and heat oil over medium high heat once hot add patties cook 2 minutes per side or until golden brown on both sides and drain on paper Towels and serve over chili and top with cheese avocado and sour cream and that hellmanns drizzle sauce --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
