Cobb Gems Dealer Loses $100,000 in Heist of Family Heirlooms

A major theft occurred at the Big Shanty Antique Mall in Cobb County, Georgia, where over $100,000 worth of fine jewelry was stolen by a couple who seemed to be in their sixties. Caught on surveillance video, the man had a noticeable birthmark on his forehead, and the woman was seen wearing glasses. They managed to steal 19 items, including a ruby brooch, diamond rings, and large Asscher-cut emerald earrings, many of which were family heirlooms over a century old.

This brazen act was executed in under two minutes in broad daylight. The female suspect distracted another dealer while the male suspect unlocked the display cases with a generic set of keys and pocketed the jewels. The owner, Kevin Kellogg, wasn’t present during the heist and only discovered the theft after the fact.

Kellogg is offering rewards for information leading to the arrest of the couple and recovery of the stolen goods. Despite the significant loss, Kellogg remains positive, expressing more concern about the thieves striking again than about the loss of his uninsured items.
