Scarlett’s guest is Julie Rumrill, author of the memoir, Finding Mary: A Journey of Reclamation. Julie’s pain from losing her two sisters has given her the courage to write about her family’s tragedies and to share her story with the world to help others. Scarlett and Julie discuss how tragedy and roadblocks are there for a reason and that is to help us grow despite our struggles. Julie’s memoir is a journey of self-discovery and how she encourages her other family members to do the same to process their grief.

Julie is a faculty member in the Department of Earth Science at Southern Connecticut State University and the Department of Math and Science at Gateway Community College in New Haven, Connecticut. In addition to her academic, fieldwork, and business experience, Julie is a certified yoga instructor and qualified teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), a scientifically-supported, mind-body medicine program, developed at UMASS Medical School.
